Hi NoGoodies,
We get it, you’re busy. So here’s our weekly digest to catch you up on all of the marketing news you may have missed this past week...
Kelly Clarkson’s $15,000 bird feud turns into the internet’s favorite bit
It started when Clarkson posted that a Brooklyn shop owner sized her up like she couldn’t afford a $15,000 mechanical bird. The shop leaned into the attention instead of backing down, listing Molly at $15 million, and now the whole online fight has fueled a cycle of memes and online discourse.
TikTok signs a second microdrama deal, and this one puts creators in the lead
TikTok signed a multiyear deal with creator management company Made By Us to co-produce vertical series for TikTok and PineDrama. Its first deal, with Issa Rae’s Hoorae, produced “Screen Time,” the most-watched show on either app at nearly 580 million views.
Facebook lets you tell the algorithm what you want
Users can now type requests like “more cooking videos” into a chatbot-style box, and the feed adjusts within the same session. YouTube is rolling out similar prompt-built Custom Feeds this fall, and LinkedIn is testing a Network tab that shows only people you’ve connected with or followed.
Gymshark signs Megan Thee Stallion as its first-ever celebrity ambassador
The multi-year deal puts Megan in Gymshark’s Athlete programme. The launch campaign, “Megan Does Gym,” went live October 13 and shows her training with women from the brand’s community. The hero product is a pair of $48 red shorts, landing right in the middle of an online debate about women’s gym shorts, which Gymshark’s community picked up on right away.
Apple drops its first immersive horror movie on Vision Pro
Remnants, written and directed by Ti West, premiered October 16 in the Apple TV app exclusively on Vision Pro, taking viewers inside a haunted castle in Apple’s 180-degree Immersive format. Apple’s teaser skips the scares and shows real viewer reactions, which is a smart way to sell a headset most people have never tried on.
